Mini-Grant Recipient Success Stories: Connected Warriors
Connected Warriors has been awarded 2 Healthier Jupiter Mini Grants over the years! Their programs have made a great impact on the health of the community they work with.
Connected Warriors delivers free yoga and meditation to veterans, service members and their families across the country with a local group of teachers and classes in Jupiter. Connected Warriors reaches veterans who suffer from PTSD, TBI, and physical and moral injury. By teaching veterans how to manage their stress and health issues through yoga and meditation, they are addressing, reducing and healing drug addiction, suicide and/or depression.
Connected Warriors has shared with Healthier Jupiter that, “as a result of being awarded the Healthier Jupiter [Mini] Grant, the Jupiter area was chosen by Connected Warriors to run a pilot program of meditation for veterans. As a result, we are now the first area to offer a [Connected Warriors] class for meditation weekly with an instructor with training for PTSD and TBI”
Some stories shared from Connected Warriors participants include:
“Over 40 years of yoga I have witnesses my own and others’ physical healing. Now I have witnessed through [Connected Warriors] my adult son recover emotionally from PTSD and is now will[ing] to accept and properly treat Bipolar Disorder. He has been empowered by this style of yoga even though he “knew” a lot about yoga through me”.
“Yoga has increased my flexibility and my concentration as well as being able to relax”
Connected Warrior’s Free Yoga for Military Veterans and Their Families Program meets Healthier Jupiter’s goal to help individuals become more physically active on a regular basis, as well as engage mentally and physically to practice healthy behaviors.
About Healthier Jupiter’s 2019-2020 Mini-Grant Program
Healthier Jupiter, a community initiative founded to address health and quality of life issues, for the fourth year in a row, Healthier Jupiter will offer Mini Grants to impact the health of our community. The goal of the Mini Grants is to fund innovative projects that have measurable impact and can create meaningful, transformative change in the health, wellness and success of the greater Jupiter community. The grants will allow civic organizations, churches, temples, schools, government entities and nonprofits to fund pilot ideas to improve our collective community health in one of four focus areas:
Increase the availability and affordability of fresh, healthy foods;
Help individuals become more physically active on a regular basis;
Encourage people to engage mentally and physically to practice healthy behaviors; and/or
Support changes in the built environment and community policies that promote equitable opportunities for healthy living.

Healthier Jupiter is funded through a generous grant from Palm Health Foundation in partnership with Jupiter Medical Center, as part of the countywide Healthier Together Initiative.
