Our Committees
Healthier Jupiter committees are comprised of Jupiter residents and nonprofit leaders. Our committees help to guide the important work of the initiative. They work to implement Healthier Jupiter’s goals while upholding the mission, vision and guiding principles of the initiative. Our committees include: Access to Medical Care & Marketing, Couch to 5K, Food as Medicine and Steering. Healthier Jupiter is also exploring other workgroups, such as a policy and advocacy, brain health and walkable/bikeable communities. Stay tuned for more information about these workgroups. The committees meet monthly, and, besides the Steering Committee, community members are encouraged to attend committee meetings.
Please complete the How to Get Involved Form if interested in joining one of our committees. If you have additional questions contact Healthier Jupiter’s Project Director, Joanna Peluso, at 561-263-7579.
Community Action Committee
Works to increase the visibility and community awareness to ensure that Healthier Jupiter is recognized as a community resource for health and wellness. This committee helps to plan, implement and market new and ongoing resources and programs. Specific projects the Community Action Committee takes on include: Community Grants BBQ, Community Health Survey, and various healthy living toolkits. All community members are welcome to join our Community Action Committee, especially those interested in marketing, networking, public relations and community engagement.
Couch to 5K Committee
The Couch to 5K program helps participants gradually increase their physical activity to walk or run a 5K in 9 weeks. The program attracts a diverse group of community members. Healthier Jupiter has a Couch to 5K Committee to help plan the training program held from March to May to prepare for the annual Town of Jupiter Turtle Trot. Committee members help to create an experience for community members to feel comfortable and encouraged while getting active and seeking fitness. All community members are welcome to join the Couch to 5K Committee, especially those interested in physical activity and group exercise. Committee meetings are held September to May.
Food as Medicine Committee
Healthier Jupiter is engaging more with our partners in promoting and ensuring opportunities for healthy eating in our community. We are working on developing a community committee dedicated to assisting in increasing awareness of the importance of healthy eating. Additionally, this committee will address food insecurity and access to healthy eating in our greater Jupiter community. Committee members will help explore new programming, or advance current programming to promote healthy eating. This committee is by invitation only.
Steering Committee
Healthier Jupiter’s Steering Committee develops the strategic direction and vision to drive transformative change as defined by community expectations. Collectively the Steering Committee works on Healthier Jupiter’s programmatic goals, including strategy, program activities, outcome measurements, and community engagement.
