Join Healthier Jupiter for the 21 Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge - Dismantling Racism in our Food System
Download the flyer to share with others.
Healthier Jupiter has been engaging in conversation with local leaders about the Food System in Jupiter. We have been inspired by our conversations and want to dive deeper into understanding and undoing racism in our food system. There is a great tool to strengthen our knowledge and skill - Food Solutions New England 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge. Please join Healthier Jupiter and other community members as we embark on the FSNE 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge together.
The 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge is a self-guided learning journey for individuals and groups for examining the history and impacts of racism and inequities and how they are connected to our food system. It includes daily prompts, resources, and inspirational examples of dismantling racism and inequities in ourselves, our communities, and our culture. See this blog post for more about the FSNE 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge.
Elements of the Challenge
Daily email prompts (readings, video, audio) that take about 10-15 minutes each (with optional “deeper dive” materials)
A launch webinar (recorded so that late joiners can view it as well) orienting participants to the Challenge
A printable/PDF Discussion Guide to support groups at schools, colleges, businesses, churches or other organizations that may want to do the Challenge together
Online discussion forums for those who may want to talk about the daily prompts and other learning along the way
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE? While the Challenge started in 2015 as a capacity-building project of the Food Solutions New England network for food system colleagues around their region to center its racial equity commitment, the Challenge has grown to nationwide (and some international) participation. People from all parts of the food system participate, representing people of many different racial and gender identities, age groups and interests. See below for how to get involved in Jupiter learning group.
WHEN IS THE CHALLENGE? It is held from April 5th to April 25th. Save time on your calendar from noon to 1:30 EDT each Friday of the Challenge to join in an Open Discussion Space hosted by Food Systems New England. They will meet on Zoom to review some high points from the week and break out into some smaller group discussions. Registration is required. April 9, April 16, April 23
HOW TO PARTICIPATE? You can register for The Challenge to receive daily prompts: https://foodsolutionsne.org/21-day-racial-equity-habit-building-challenge/.
To support the Jupiter community’s learning…
Healthier Jupiter is organizing a local reflection group open to anyone who lives, works, plays, visits, seeks care, or worships in Jupiter. It is also open to anyone looking to engage more in the Jupiter food system. We hope to bring together a group to check in and reflect on our learnings. We will be on this learning journey together. The only other requirement is your commitment to value and respect diversity of thought and experience.
Healthier Jupiter will be holding two kick off + info sessions for you to join in. This is great for someone who may want to learn more before deciding to participate. We will be sharing why we are doing this, what to expect during our reflections, and be available for your questions.
Wednesday, March 31st from 12:00PM to 1:00PM. Register here.
Thursday, April 1st from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. Register here.
You can register for the challenge without participating in the Healthier Jupiter reflection group. However, if you are interested in joining us weekly for a reflection discussion, please complete the form below (in addition to registering for the challenge through FSNE link above)
