Healthier Jupiter, a community initiative founded to address health and quality of life issues, recently awarded ten $2,500 Mini-Grants to deserving local not-for-profits. The goal of the Mini-Grant program is to fund projects that address healthy eating, active living and mental health in new, innovative and community-centered ways. The projects awarded will create lasting and transformative change in the health, wellness and success of the Jupiter community.

A Mini-Grant Review Committee of 9 community members, representing a variety of expertise and backgrounds, came together in early November to interview and evaluate applicants. Each application received careful review based on eligibility requirements, impact on health, collaboration, reach and scale, equitable access, evaluation and sustainability.

This year, Healthier Jupiter has partnered with the Morgan Hoffmann Foundation to be able to provide two additional $2,500 grants to fund projects focused on reaching children and their families. The Morgan Hoffmann Foundation is dedicated to helping others affected by debilitating diseases and those who seek to achieve a healthier life through research, science and holistic methodologies.

The ten organizations and their funded projects include:

  1. Center for Child Counseling - Healing the Healers

  2. El Sol, Jupiter’s Neighborhood Resource Center - The Flavors of the Sun Cooking Series

  3. FreshRx Inc - Farm to Hospital

  4. Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida - Be Kind to your Mind
