FreshRx Recruiting for TWO Interns

FreshRx Farm to Hospital is a fresh produce prescription program working with oncology, cardiology, neurology (stroke), and pediatric patients in the community whose doctors have advised them to change their diets as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. The FreshRx Farm to Hospital program is partnering with Jupiter Medical Center, and other clinics and physicians to recommend patients to participate in the program.

FreshRx is looking for TWO interns to help with several aspects of program administration and support.

Patient Relations Intern

Responsibilities:

  • Contact program participants, through phone and email, about picking up produce. Enter and track participant data.

  • Organize a weekly newsletter for participants.

  • If possible, attend virtual monthly FreshRx Committee meetings that are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 9AM to 10AM. Type up meeting minutes to distribute to the committee.

  • Attend weekly produce distribution at Jupiter Medical Center on Sundays from 9AM to 1PM. Interact with participants, including checking in with participants progress, sharing recipes and tips, and communicating program details.

  • Meet with a FreshRx Team member weekly to review program status and learning objectives.

  • Other supporting activities may include putting together participant folders, and researching national best practices in Food as Medicine field.

Qualifications and Abilities:

  • Student has a passion for nutrition, nutrition education, public health, and/or healthcare. Ideal for a pre-med student.

  • Friendly student looking to create and maintain relationships with participants.

  • Knowledge and experience with Google Suite.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional organization and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision while also being a good team collaborator.

Research and Data Intern

Responsibilities

  • Contact program participants, through phone and email, to complete assessments. Enter and track participant completion.

  • Collect and input data from health assessments.

  • Manage and organize data sets.

  • Analyze and report findings, including a presentation of results to committee members.

  • If possible, attend virtual monthly FreshRx Committee meetings that are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 9AM to 10AM.

  • Attend weekly produce distribution at Jupiter Medical Center (Sundays from 9AM to 1PM) when assessments are being distributed. Dates will be provided, but include first pick up, mid program, and final two pick ups.

  • Meet with a FreshRx Team member weekly to review program status and learning objectives.

  • Interest in data management, analysis and reporting.

  • Knowledge and experience with Google Suite.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision while also being a good team collaborator.

This is an unpaid internship. The FreshRx Program will work with students and their academic institutions to obtain course credit and/or volunteer hours.

The FreshRx Program runs from August to May, and FreshRx is looking for an intern until June 2022. The time commitment averages 5 hours per week, but we are willing to work with students on hours that best fit for student’s schedules.

Location: Most work can be done virtually. Additional work may include presence at Jupiter Medical Center – 1210 S. Old Dixie Highway Jupiter, Florida, 33458.
