Where Can You Exercise for Free in Jupiter?

It is too expensive to work out. I don’t have the right equipment to strength train. Have you ever had these thoughts? Well, we are here to let you know Jupiter has some great areas where you can walk, run, bike and strength train for free!

Walk, Bike, Run in Your Neighborhood
Healthier Jupiter has created a “Get Fit Map,” which maps out all the areas in Jupiter where you can walk, run and bike. Find suggested paths within your own neighborhood or explore a new park or natural area. Also, try walking to some of your favorite local spots by identifying What is in Your Walking Shed? Make sure to stay safe on the roads.

Use the Find A Facility tool to locate Town of Jupiter Parks and recreation facilities. Did you know that Healthier Jupiter did a Park Usage Study (pre-pandemic) to see how are parks are used, and recommend ways to get even more people out and active in our small Jupiter parks. Learn more here.

Walk, Bike, Run in State Park
We have Jonathan Dickinson State Park nearby in Tequesta, located at 16450 Southeast Federal Highway. There is a park entrance fee. Follow Friends of Jonathan Dickinson State Park on Facebook for their events.
Dance
You can join an energetic group of women for Zumba on Friday nights from 6:00PM at Officer Bruce St. Laurent Park, behind the library. Zumba classes change based on day light savings. So check El Sol Facebook and message them for updates. Times change per season.
Couch to 5K Training Program
Although participating in 5Ks may not be free, the Couch to 5K Training Program is! Healthier Jupiter, in partnership with the Town of Jupiter’s Recreation Department, and Jupiter Medical Center’s Cary Grossman Health & Wellness Center, created a FREE 9-week Couch to 5K Training Guide to help individuals gradually increase their physical activity levels enough to walk or run a 5K (3.1 miles). Virtual Yoga
Gentle Yoga & Journaling with NAMI PBC. Join NAMI PBC staff virtually every Friday afternoons from 3:30-4:30. Click on the link to register for our free yoga series: Yoga Registration
Swim
Jupiter is fortunate to have the North County Aquatic Center. Although not free, the Aquatic Center is a very low cost for entrance and programs. Join Water Aerobics Tuesdays through Fridays 10:00AM to 11:00AM and Saturdays 10:30AM to 11:30AM. Fee is $5 per class, or a class pass is $45 (10 Visits).
Walk with our Local Animals
Visit Busch Wildlife Sanctuary for a walk around their grounds and trails while learning about all of the wildlife they rescue. Stay tuned to their Facebook page for special events and their big move to a new location in Jupiter Farms.
Strength Train
Pay special attention to Jupiter Community Center Park, Carlin Park (across from the beach) and Indian Creek Park, where there is exercise equipment designed for you to build muscle and tone. Learn how to use the equipment.
Palm Beach County Library
Have a Palm Beach County Library Card? Check out the online calendar for free activities. Train in the comfort of your home - search the shelves or online catalog or “book a librarian” to access books and DVDs on yoga, kickboxing, and more.
Area Agency on Aging
Regularly offers free virtual classes on balance and tai-chi. Staff from the Area Agency on Aging will help seniors with accessing the training online. Stay tuned for their winter dates. Dates change throughout the year so reach out to Maureen McCarthy from the Palm Bach County and Treasure Coast Area Agency on Aging 561-684-5885 ext 59103 for more details
Tai Chi -Moving for Better Balance – This workshops runs for 24 weeks, 1 hour each week, 2x’s a week. Participants will build strength, relieve stress and build confidence to reduce the fear of falling. We can have 12-15 participants.
A Matter of Balance: This workshop is focused on Fall Prevention. We guide you through an educational component that helps you become more aware of fall hazards around you such as medications and obstacles in your home. The second half of the class is focused on strengthen those muscles needed should you go into a fall motion. We will discuss and work on flexibility, strength, and balance. This class meets for 8 sessions for 2 hours each session.
Volunteer!
A gym workout is great, but by moving a little of that calorie burning and muscle building into the real world, your sweat could start changing lives or animals for the better. Try active volunteer opportunities with Friends of Jupiter Beach, El Sol’s Garden, CROS Ministries, or Palm Beach County Food Bank.
