Jupiter, FL – (October 12, 2019) – Healthier Jupiter, a community initiative founded to address health and quality of life issues, recently awarded eight $2500 Grants to deserving local not-for-profit and civic organizations. The goal of the Mini Grants is to fund innovative projects that have measurable impact and can create meaningful, transformative change in the health, wellness and success of the greater Jupiter community. The grants are funding pilot ideas that will improve our collective community health in one of four focus areas: increase the availability and affordability of fresh, healthy foods; help individuals become more physically active on a regular basis; encourage people to engage mentally and physically to practice healthy behaviors; support changes in the built environment and community policies that promote equitable opportunities for healthy living.
Healthier Jupiter is funded through a generous grant from Palm Health Foundation in partnership with Jupiter Medical Center, as part of the countywide Healthier Together Initiative.
Over 300 community members came together at a Healthy Community Grants BBQ on October 12th, at which 12 Grant semi-finalists presented their project overview to the public, who then chose the top eight. Town of Jupiter Mayor Todd Wodraska announced the Grant recipients at the event. Wodraska shared, “Congratulations to everybody…on a Saturday in Jupiter every park is packed and everybody is getting healthier and it is due to the effort of everyone in this room. Jupiter is truly a healthier place”. The eight organizations and their funded projects include the following.
